  3. After a bit of a slow start getting down 3-0 after three the boys tie it up to go to the break. Things look even better after 6 when a steal of 1 provides the lead for the first time. In the next three ends the teams exchange singles to put the game tied after 9 with Northern Ontario having hammer in the 10th. That's the good news, the rest is not so good when in the 10th we give up a steal of three and our second straight loss is upon us.

Time for a quick bite to eat, some refreshments maybe, then back on the ice at 5:00 pm eastern against BC who are currently 0-1 losing to Sask in draw 2 and had the Bye in draw 1.

    Cheers Boys!

  5. Results now in for draw 3 from last night. Looks like we were chasing BC from the get go in this one. Down 6-3 after 5 ends and 9-5 after 8 results in the 3rd straight loss for Team Northern Ontario and the unfortunate 0-3 start to the event.

Keep the heads up boys she's not over yet. The next game will be at 12:00 pm eastern time and be against the Olympic Gold Medal winner John Morris. This one will be fun to be involved in.

Have fun and good luck boys!

  6. With the draw just ended Northern Ontario has fallen to 0-4. Looking great after 5 ends the boys were up 5-2 on Albert's John Morris but gave up 3 in the 6th and a big 4 in the ninth to put the game out of reach.

Northern Ontario's next game will be against Southern Ontario in today's afternoon draw starting at 5:00 pm eastern.

Four losses will likely be the maximum allowed if the team hopes to advance to the playoff round.

    Good luck to them all!

  8. Game 5 is over after an exciting extra end that was required when Southern Ontario scored 3 in the 10th to tie, Northern Ontario scores 1 in the 11th and wins the "Battle of Ontario" earning it's first victory of the event. Now 1-4 we are still alive.

Next game will be tomorrow at 12:00 pm eastern against New Brunswick who currently stands at 0-4.

Could we make the big comeback?

  9. Game 6 results are in. After a great first 5 ends 8 points were placed on the board by Northern Ontario. In the last 5 things got a bit more exciting as New Brunswick placed their own 8 points on the board tying things up after regulation 8-8. In the 11th with the hammer we score one to take the victory. Whew, that was close.

Take the afternoon off, socialize a bit tonight and back on th ice tomorrow against Nova Scotia for game 7.

    Standings now 2-4

  10. Game 7 is in the rack. A key deuce scored in the 8th end of a tie game catapults Northern Ontario to a third straight victory in the morning draw today. The win now has the record at 3-4, one below .500 and keeps hopes alive for a playoff spot.

This afternoons game against Sask who is on top of the standings at 7-1 will be key in staying alive.

Stay tuned for the next update.

  11. Game 8 started out better than anyone could imagine scoring 5 in the 1st end against the top ranked team in the event. Unfortunately she went downwhill from there with Sask able to score 7 points from the 2-5th ends leaving the score 7-5 at the break. In the last half Sask controlled the scoreboard well ending the game at 9-6. NO is now 3-5 and needs major help for hope of getting into a tiebreaker situation.

Game 9 is tomorrow morning and the opposition is Northwest Territories with a 4-4 record. Steve Moss leads the NWT with much experience at the CFFA and Brier levels.

  12. Game 9 ends the hopes for NO to make the playoff round. After falling to NWT 9-6 making the record 3 wins and 6 losses it will not be possible this year. Rumor has it the 5th Guy Langlais was inserted for the game and was able to stretch out a bit but it was not enough to be able to handle NWT.

One game remains tonight against Manitoba who sits at 4-5 and still has a chance to make a tiebreaker round.

  13. After 10 games we are outside the playoffs barely with a record of 4-6. Not bad, a game here a game there and we may have been 7-3, maybe 8-2. Good effort guys, you did us proud. Maybe next time.

Enjoy the rest of the event, the new friends you have made and the time with each other. You deserve it!
